May 8- Art Party

The Arts Council invites you to an elegant evening celebrating the arts. This gala event and major fundraiser will take place at The Carltun on the Park in East Meadow on May 8, 2008 from 6-10pm. This year we will be honoring Sig Feile of Atlantic Nursery with the Arts Recognition Award, David Opatow, Director of the Freeport Memorial Library, with the Community Service Award, and Marc Josloff with the Arts and Education Award. Individual tickets are $100 which includes dinner and entertainment. June 1-26- 28th Annual Juried Photography Show

The 28th Annual Juried Photography Show is open to amateurs and professionals working in black and white or color. The selected photographs will be on exhibit at the Freeport Memorial Library from June 1 through June 26. Cash awards, prizes, and exhibit opportunities will be presented to the winners. Editha Mesina, a faculty member of Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in the photography and imaging department, will be serving as the judge this year. Her works have been exhibited in various art galleries throughout New York and she is a recent recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Photography.

Entries must be sent in a JPEG file on CD. There is a non-refundable fee of $10 per photograph for Affiliates and $15 for non-members. The deadline for submission is Thursday, April 11. To request a prospectus, please email joanliacf@gmail.com.

July and August- Summer Concert Series

Every Thursday evening in July and August the Arts Council presents a free outdoor concert as part of the Summer Concert Series. This series is co-sponsored by the Village of Freeport and takes place at the Nautical Mile Esplanade. Look out for what is coming up in the Summer Concerts for 2008!
