The SOS (Strategic Opportunity Stipend) Grants, a joint project of the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and New York State arts and cultural organizations, is designed to help individual artists residing outside of NYC take advantage of opportunities that will significantly benefit their work or career development. This year, the grant cycle happens only twice – in September and April – but the funding level has doubled. The East End Arts Council is the administrative site for Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Juried Photography Exhibition: Molloy College will sponsor a Juried Photography Exhibition titled “Faces of Long Island”. We are looking for artists who capture the increasingly rich and diverse Long Island Community. Minority communities and varying ages from birth to our aging population across all areas of Long Island life from the Atlantic Ocean to the Long Island Sound will be the focus of the Juried Exhibition. Winners will be exhibited at Molloy College in November 2010 and all matting and framing costs will be the responsibility of the college. No work will be more than 20 x 20 inches in size. In addition, there will be an honorarium of $200.00 for each winner and the work will become part of the permanent collection of Molloy College.
