Seeking... Program Assistant
The Long Island Arts Council at Freeport is a non-profit organization founded in 1974. The Arts Council’s mission is to nurture the professional development of artists and arts organizations on Long Island, and encourage the community’s involvement in the arts.
Interns assist with a variety of activities, including the following:
High 5 Long Island - offers discounted cultural tickets to teenagers and their families; sponsors youth programs
Juried Photography Show - annual juried exhibit
Seminars - participants learn about a variety of cultural issues, increase professional development, and improve management skills
Arts Networking Opportunities - artists and arts professionals meet, interact, and exchange ideas with one another

Dates: Ongoing
Hours: 10-20 hours per week
The internship may be taken for academic credit.
Qualifications: Knowledge of Microsoft Word essential; Must be extremely organized and detail-oriented; Strong communication skills in relating to people of diverse backgrounds; Excellent phone manner.
Preferred: Interest in promoting community arts activities in a variety of disciplines; Familiarity with the visual and performing arts; Knowledge of PrintShop or other desktop publishing software.
